Important Reasons for Choosing PCCD

Opus Operandi

We adhere to the old, good, simple
and quite often forgotten business philosophy that the most effective form of advertising is to satisfy our clients.

Our strength

We not only pinpoint,
we also effectively resolve
engineering problems.

  14  important reasons for engaging
                Pollution Control Consultancy and Design

Let us make no mistakes - there are enormous differences between acoustical
and/or environmental consultants : some will effectively resolve your problems,
while others will often make them even worse.

But how to find the right consultant ?

  •  a fee cannot be a sole criterion for selection of the consultant - if you pay a relatively much lower fee,
    you will probably not get what you really need: there are a lot of 'consultants' that do (are able to do)
    only a small fraction of what is required and, as a result, they can propose much lower fees than others.

    MAKE SURE THAT QUOTATIONS  FROM ALL CONSULTANTS CONTAIN THE COMPLETE (ESSENTIAL) SCOPE
    OF WORKS, AND ONLY THEN COMPARE THE FEES -
    COMPARE APPLES WITH APPLES

  X

  • an engagement of a large consulting firm does not guarantee the satisfactory service, unless you know
    who will actually perform the job - if you pay less or have a smaller project, a chance is that you will
    end up with junior, inexperienced staff.

    FIND OUT  WHO  WILL EXACTLY
    CARRY OUT THE JOB FOR YOU - IT DOES NOT REALLY MATTER,
    WHETHER YOUR CONSULTANT IS FROM A LARGE FIRM THAT HAS PERFORMED, AS A WHOLE,
    A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT/PROMINENT PROJECTS - IT RATHER MATTERS WHAT HE OR SHE
    HAS DONE PERSONALLY
    -
    REMEMBER THAT NOT ALL EMPLOYEES OF
    A SUPERMARKET ARE COMPETENT IN THEIR JOBS
  •  there is a number of other aspects that you need to take into consideration, while choosing
    your acoustical and/or environmental consultant, viz.
      a.    formal qualifications;
      b.    status, registration and affiliation with professional institutions and associations;
      c.    wide-ranging (beside consulting, e.g. industrial, design, research) experience;
      d.    abilities to quickly recognize and effectively resolve technical problems;
      e.    quality of tools (measuring equipment, specialist software); and
      f.     professional indemnity (insurance); etc.

    GATHER ALL RELEVANT INFORMATION ABOUT PERSONS THAT WILL BE POTENTIALLY YOUR CONSULTANTS
    (IF SUCH INFORMATION IS NOT AVAILABLE, LOOK FOR OTHER CONSULTANTS THAT PROVIDE SUCH INFORMATION)
    AND ONLY THEN MAKE YOUR CHOICE.

To assist you with the difficult task of choosing the right consultant, we list underneath fourteen important reasons for engaging us - Pollution Control Consultancy and Design:

and our only aim is to provide impartial advice that will be the best for you.

2.    WE ARE CONFIDENTIAL

Because we are independent, any discussions between you and us, and any findings resulting
from our activities carried out on your behalf remain strictly confidential.

3.    WE ARE ACCREDITED

PCCD is a member of:
Consult Australia [formerly: Association of Consulting Engineers, Australia (ACEA)] and
Association of Australian Acoustical Consultants (AAAC), and

its principal consultant is
a Corporate Member and Chartered Professional Engineer
of T
he Institution of Engineers, Australia (Engineers Australia), registered on National
Professional Engineers Register Section Three (NPER-3
)
under No 371231 [ MIEAust
CPEng (Reg)]
, and a Member of Australian Acoustical Society (M.A.A.S.).

Members of ACEA and AAAC must:
  a.    have the adequate professional qualifications and experience;
  b.    pass thorough reviews by their peers (other ACEA and AAAC Members);
  c.    abide by stringent codes of ethics;
  d.    have a secure professional indemnity
;
and they are subject to strict complaints and disciplinary procedures.

 Members of AAS must show that they:
  a.    have appropriate and recognized educational qualifications; and
  b.    are actively engaged in the science or practice of acoustics at a professional level.

4.    OUR FEES ARE COMPETITIVE

We use the best quality and up-to-date professional tools (measurement equipment, computers,
printers and software), but keep other overheads low, and consequently we are able to match or
even better any reasonable fees proposed by our competitors.

5.    ALL OUR PROJECTS ARE SUPERVISED BY PRINCIPAL CONSULTANT

There is a number of consulting firms that have established their reputation and name through
their most experienced and talented consultants.

However, in many cases, these consultants have no time to supervise all (especially smaller) projects.
Such projects are often carried out by junior, less experienced staff.

On contrary, ALL OUR PROJECTS (both large and small) are closely supervised and endorsed by
Alex Jochelson - our principal consultant, whose formal qualifications and extensive professional
experience guarantee the high quality of project results.

6.    OUR INITIAL CONSULTATION IS FREE

We are aware that most environment protection problems are site-specific, and difficult to describe
and recognize over the telephone.

Therefore, our initial site inspection, discussion and advice are free.

7.    WE DO EXPLAIN

We believe that our clients should fully understand our advice and therefore we clearly explain
our findings and recommendations.

And we have the ability and experience to put even very complicated technical concepts in
simple terms.

8.    WE SOLVE PROBLEMS

Many consultants produce voluminous and confusing reports, in which they identify your problems but
do not (or are not able to)  provide the most important and essential for you  part, viz.
the solution.

Our reports are as clear and concise as possible (from time to time, by necessity, they include a large
number of appendices for experts that may review our reports), and they always give you firm and
practical recommendations on steps to take to eliminate the problems that we have discovered, if any.

We never complete our projects leaving you with a question:  so what should I do next ?

9.    WE PROVIDE COMPREHENSIVE SERVICES

We endeavour to provide complete ("one-stop-shop") services in environment protection
and therefore our services cover most aspects of air, noise and water pollution control.

However, in cases when we feel that our expertise does not go far enough, we subcontract
the most competent (in our opinion) consultants currently available on the market.

10.    WE USE B&K 2250, 2270 and 2260 Investigators

A vast part of our projects includes environmental and occupational noise assessment and engineering control.

These projects are based on measurements with our Brüel & Kjær (B&K) Modular Precision Real-Time
Sound and Vibration Analyzers type 2250, 2270 and 2260 Investigator.

The analyzers provides accurate, reliable and comprehensive measurement results, and due to their rapid performance
(quick, simultaneous measurement of all necessary parameters), our measurements will only slightly interfere with
your industrial activities.

11.    WE MEASURE SOUND INTENSITY

Measurements of sound intensity level have enormous application in the modern noise engineering control.

These measurements are carried out with state-of-the-art and expensive equipment, and therefore

only few acoustical consultants provide such measurements.

PCCD carries out measurements of sound intensity with
Brüel & Kjær (B&K) Modular Precision Real-Time
Brüel & Kjær (B&K) Modular Precision Real-Time Sound Analyzers type 2260 with Sound Intensity Probe
type 3595 (hand-held sound intensity system).

12.    WE USE UNIQUE, FOUR-CHANNEL SOUND AND VIBRATION ANALYSERS

We measure simultaneously noise and vibration in three directions with the unique Four-channel,
Real-Time, Class 1 Sound and Vibration Analyzers Svantek Svan 958
.

This is particularly useful for measurements of:
-  ground and building vibration caused by construction sites, road traffic and trains; and
-  monitoring of condition of machines.

13.     OUR CLIENT-ORIENTATED BUSINESS PHILOSOPHY

PCCD follows the old, good, simple and quite often forgotten business philosophy that the most
effective form of advertising is to satisfy the current clients.

14.    WE MEET OUR CLINENTS IN OUR SYDNEY OFFICE

We meet clients in our Sydney Office, which is conveniently located at the heart of Sydney CBD -
a walking distance from Martin Place/St James/Wynyard train stations.
