17 important reasons for engaging Pollution Control Consultancy and Design (PCCD)

Let us make no mistakes - there are enormous differences between acoustical consultants : some will effectively resolve your problems, while others will often make them even worse.

But how to find the right consultant ?

  • A fee cannot be a sole criterion for selection of consultants - if you pay a relatively much lower fee, you will probably not get what you really need: there are a lot of consultants that do (are able to do) only a small fraction of what is required and, as a result, they can afford to propose a much lower fee than others.

    MAKE SURE THAT QUOTATIONS FROM ALL CONSULTANTS CONTAIN THE COMPLETE (ESSENTIAL) SCOPE OF WORKS AND ONLY THEN COMPARE THE FEES - COMPARE APPLES WITH APPLES.
  • An engagement of a large consulting firm does not guarantee the satisfactory service, unless you know who will actually perform your job - if you pay less or if you have a smaller project, there is a chance that you will end up with junior, inexperience staff.

    FIND OUT WHO ACTUALLY WILL CARRY OUT THE JOB FOR YOU - IT DOES NOT REALLY MATTER WHETHER YOUR CONSULTANT IS FROM A LARGE FIRM THAT HAD PERFORMED, AS A WHOLE, A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT/PROMINENT PROJECTS - IT RATHER MATTERS WHAT HE OR SHE HAS DONE PERSONALLY - REMEMBER THAT NOT ALL EMPLOYEES OF A SUPERMARKET ARE COMPETENT IN THEIR JOBS.
  • There is a number of other aspects that you need to take into consideration while choosing your acoustical consultant, viz.
       -  formal qualifications;
       -  status, registration and affiliation with professional institutions and associations;
       -  wide-ranging experience (experience besides consulting experience, e.g. industrial experience);
       -  ability to quickly recognize and effectively resolve technical problems;
       -  quality of tools (measuring equipment, specialist software);
       -  professional indemnity (insurance), etc.

    GATHER ALL RELEVANT INFORMATION ABOUT PERSONS THAT WILL BE POTENTIALLY YOUR CONSULTANTS AND ONLY THEN MAKE YOUR CHOICE.

We are confidential

Because we are independent, any discussion between you and us, and any findings resulting from our activities

We are accredited

Pollution Control Consultancy and Design (PCCD) is a member firm of:

its Principal Consultant is a Corporate Member and Chartered Professional Engineer of The Institution of Engineers, Australia
(IEAust; Engineers Australia), registered on National Engineering Register (NER) under No 371231 (MIEAust CPEng (Reg)], and a Member of Australian Acoustical Society (M.A.A.S.).

Members of Association of Australian Acoustical Consultants must:

  1. have the adequate professional qualifications and experience;
  2. pass thorough reviews by their peers (other members);
  3. abide by stringent codes of ethics;
  4. have a secure professional indemnity;

and they are subject to strict complaints and disciplinary procedures.

Members of Australian Acoustical Society must show that they:

  1. have appropriate and recognized education qualifications; and
  2. are actively engaged in the science or practice of acoustics at the professional level.

Our fees are competitive

We use the best, world-class quality and up-to-date professional tools (measuring equipment, computers, printers and software), but we keep other overheads low, and consequently we are able to match or even better any reasonable fees proposed by our competitors.

All our projects are supervised and endorsed by Principal Consultant

There is a number of consulting firms that have established their reputation and name through their most experienced and talented consultants.
However, in many cases, these consultants have no time to supervise all (especially smaller) projects. Such projects are often carried out by junior, less experienced staff.

On contrary, ALL OUR PROJECTS (both small and large) are closely supervised and endorsed by our Principal Consultant, whose formal qualifications and extensive professional experience guarantee the high quality of project results.

In some cases, our initial consultation is free

We are aware that some environment protection problems are site-specific and difficult to describe and recognize over the telephone.

Therefore, in such cases, our initial site inspections, discussions and advice are free.

We explain our tasks

We believe that our clients should fully understand our advice and therefore we clearly explain our findings and recommendations.

And we have the ability and experience to put even very complicated technical concepts in simple terms.

We solve problems

Many consultants produce voluminous and confusing reports, in which they identify your problems but do not (or are not able to) provide the most important and essential for you part, viz. the solution.

Our reports are as clear and concise as possible (from time to time, by necessity, they include a large number of appendices for
experts that may review our reports), and they always include firm and practical recommendations on steps to take to eliminate problems the we have discovered, if any.

We never complete our reports leaving you with a question: so what should I do next?

We provide comprehensive services

We endeavor to provide complete ("one-stop-shop") services in environment protection and therefore our services cover most aspects of air, noise and water pollution control.

However, in cases when we feel that our expertise does not go far enough, we subcontract the most competent (in our opinion) consultants currently available on the market.

We use Brüel and Kjær (B&K) 2250, 2270 and 2260 sound analyzers

A vast part of our projects includes environmental and occupational noise assessments and engineering control.

These projects are based on measurements with the best available, world-renowned Brüel & Kjær (B&K), Modular, Precision Real-Time Sound and Vibration Analyzers types: 2250 and 2270, and type: 2260 Investigator.

We measure Sound Intensity

Measurements of the sound intensity have enormous applications in the modern engineering noise control.

These measurements are carried out with state-of-the-art and expensive equipment, and therefore
only few acoustical consultants provide such measurements.

We measure High-level Noise

Using specialized, very low-sensitivity, Brüel & Kjær (B&K) and G.R.A.S. pressure-field, ¼'' microphones with the latest technology
Brüel & Kjær (B&K) Modular Precision Real-Time Sound Analyzers types: 2250 and 2270, we are able to measure the level of noise of
up to 200 dB (e.g. measurements of occupational noise at shooting ranges and near explosions) - common measurements go to not more than 140 dB.

We measure Low-frequency Noise

Using specialized, extremely low cut-off frequency, Brüel & Kjær (B&K) pressure-field, ½'' microphones type 4193 with the latest technology Brüel & Kjær (B&K) Modular Precision Real-Time Sound Analyzers types: 2250 and 2270, we are able to measure infrasound (sound from 0.1 Hz to 20 kHz, e.g. measurements of sound near wind farms, and sound from subwoofers, explosions, and large diesel engines and transformers) - common measurements start at not less than about 6 Hz.

We use unique, four-channel sound and vibration analyzers

We measure simultaneously noise and vibration in three directions with unique Four-channel, Real-Time, Class 1, Sound and Vibration Analyzers Svantek type: Svan 958.

This is particularly useful for measurements of:
=   ground and building vibration caused by mines, construction sites, road traffic and trains; and
=   monitoring of condition of machines.

We carry out long-term monitoring of noise and vibration with real-time displays of results of monitoring on-line.

We have attractive, client-orientated business philosophy

Pollution Control Consultancy and Design (PCCD) follows the old, simple and quite often forgotten business philosophy
that the most effective form of marketing is to satisfy their clients.
